Pink Clouds

Hello Darlings! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far.  Today, I have a very simple manicure that is perfect for all skill levels.  I created this pink cloud pond mani, for the final #nailthattechnique Instagram challenge of March.  I know it's April already but I had until today to submit (hey at least its on time).  This is probably the only non-Easter nail art design you are going to see from me this week too.  So, what is a pond mani?  Well, I call this a jelly sandwich manicure but I heard that a jelly sandwich is layered with glitter, were a pond mani involves a sheer polish and a design.  Whether or not this true I'm not entirely sure (if you know, please comment).  I decided to do a simple cloud design because it is simple and I always have my head in the clouds.

Materials I used:
Base coat - Seche Vite
Sheer polish - Sinful Colors 'You Just Wait'
White polish - Sinful Colors 'Snow Me White'
Medium/small dotting tool
Top coat - Seche Vite

Creating a pond manicure is fairly easy, I created a very similar manicure with heart's a couple of months ago.  You simple alternate between layers of your design (in this case clouds) and sheer polish.  On the previous design I started with a layer of sheer polish, however, this time around I started with my cloud layer first, and then applied a sheer layer.  I continued alternating between clouds and sheer until I was satisfied.  This time around it was about a total of nine layers; five layers of clouds, and four layers of sheer, beginning and ending with a cloud layer.

I love the cute little puffy clouds, which are simple random groupings of four or five dots.  It makes me long to get up there in the skies.  How I wish the weather would cooperate so I could do some flying (for those of you who don't know, my other hobby is aviation).

A pond mani is so easy to create and can be done with flowers or just dots, really any shape that you can draw can be used to create a pond mani.  It allows you to practice one pattern repeatedly, and you can cover up mistakes with the next layer.

I hope you enjoyed this simple and cute, pink cloud manicure. As a side note, this is the first time I have ever completed a mani challenge.  Even though I didn't get them all done for their weekly due date, I did get them all done before the final deadline.  Hooray!  Thank you for stopping by, see you next time.

The Girliest Nail Art Yet!

So, I was going through my Ciate Advent Mini Manor polishes trying to decide what colors I was going to pair up and trying to decide what I could do with them. As I was looking them over, two of the pinks caught my attention. For those of you, who know me well, know that I'm not a big fan of pink and I don't consider myself a girly-girl. It was then that I decided I was going to create the girliest nail art I've ever done. This is what I came up with

I started with 'Mineral Love.'  Like most nail art addicts I have a love hate relationship with glitter polishes, so this pink glitter polish is not one that I would typically purchase. If it wasn't part of the advent calendar I would not own this. I applied two coats and then topped it off with Seche Vite quick drying top coat.

I used stripping tape and taped an angled French tip with a thin stripe.

I used 'Strawberry Milkshake,' a bright soft pink crรจme to fill in the tip.

I was going to stop there when I remembered that I had some water decals from bornprettystore.com that have been hanging out in my supplies for way too long. So, I applied this star-flower decal on my ring finger, this is item #10269 in pattern BLE1830.  I also found some pink gems so I applied one in the center of the largest flower of the decal, because why not?

There you have it the girliest nail art design I have ever created, using pink, pink, glitter, flower decals and pink gems. Seriously, what could be more girlie than this?!  Though I don't care for the pink I do like the design and I hope you do too. If you happen to make a purchase at bornprettystore.com be sure to use my coupon code: createx31 for 10% off. I hope you're enjoying your Monday, thanks for stopping by, see you next time.

Think Pink Galaxy Nails

For this week's #whatruwearingwed post I decided to do my weekly Think Pink nail art design for Breast Cancer Awareness month. I have never done Galaxy nails before and I thought they would be a great tribute to those that faced breast cancer and did not survive. According to nationalbreastcsncer.org, breast cancer is the second leading cause of death of women. Of the estimated 220,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States approximately more than 40,000 will not survive. So, let's all take a moment and remember those that are no longer with us...

On to the nails...

Materials
Base and top coat
Black polish
3 or more shades of pink polish
White polish
Makeup sponge
Small brush or dotting tool

I started this design off with my favorite metallic black polish Revlon 'Black Star' appropriately named for galaxy nails.

To create the galaxy affect you'll need small pieces of sponge to layer your polishes. I simply ripped piece from a makeup sponge I had. I found the smaller the pieces I had the more control I had. Of course, the smaller the pieces the harder they are to hold so you'll most likely want to use tweezers to hold the sponge pieces. I ended up ripping the pieces in this picture in half or in thirds.

For my first layer, I used Zoya 'Dot'. This first color is a very pale cream, because I am going over black I had to do four layers. You want to apply the layers very thin to get the galaxy affect. I blotted my sponge on a paper towel before dabbing it on my nail. This helps to avoid blobs and smudging.  Simply use the small sponge pieces and dab and area of your nails, you want the layer to be semi opaque but loose so that the base color shows through slightly.

For my next layer I used Sephora by OPI 'What Aura Gonna Wear?' With this layer you want to keep the color mostly centered of your previous layer. Leave some of the previous layer showing around the edges.  I did two layers of this darker pink.

For my last galaxy layer I used Sinful Colors 'Glass Pink'. This polish is a mostly transparent pale pink sparkly polish. I used it primarily for the sparkle. I dabbed this layer over both of the previous layers but not over the entire nail. I think adding a sparkly or metallic polish really lends to the galaxy look.

To complete the look I used Sinful Colors 'Snow Me White' with a small brush to place small dots and star burst in and around my galaxies. After a little clean up I added my favorite top coat like (almost) always.

This nail art design is awesome and so incredibly easy. That means it's great for newbies and it's easy to do on both hands. I am so glad I finally got to try this nail art design and I'm sure I'll be doing it again.

I hope you enjoyed my #whatruwearingwed nail art design. I'd love to see what your wearing today, you can head over to my Facebook page and post your pictures there. Simple Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Manicure

As many of you are well aware October is national breast cancer awareness month. I too, like so many others have been affected by this disease. At the age of 12 I learned of this disease when my Great-Grandmother passed away because of it. Since, then my Grandmother, and two Aunts have also been afflicted by this disease. They have successfully completed treatment, and for that we are thankful, but it feels as though an ominous cloud over hangs the women of my family. We all fear this disease and wonder which of us will discover that questionable lump next.

Being aware of this disease isn't enough, this is the second leading cause of death for women in the United States. It does not discriminate; it doesn't care what race you are, what color your hair or eyes are, what country your from, how much money you make or what your political views are and though its more common for women to be diagnosed with breast cancer, men can also be afflicted with this disease. There is no way to prevent getting cancer but early detection very important. Through early
detection allows getting proper treatment early in the cancers development resulting in a higher success rate. To create your early detection plan head over to nationalbreastcancer.org, create your plan, and share this site with your friends, family, and everyone you know. Let's not let this disease get the better of us, let's face it head on and show it that it can't win.

One way to show your support and to create awareness is to create an attention grabbing nail art design. I created a simple breast cancer awareness manicure using some of my favorite pinks from Zoya. When I think pink, Zoya always comes to mind first.

I used 'Dot' from the Awaken collection and 'Harper' from the Bubbly collection as an accent.
I then used 'Dot' to draw a breast cancer awareness ribbon over 'Harper'. Drawing a ribbon is very easy, think of a figure eight with an open bottom.

This is a simple design that anyone can create to show their support and spread awareness. I hope you'll try it out and do your part to spread awareness. My nail art goal is to complete at lease one pink nail art design a week to help people 'Think Pink'. For those of you that know me well, know that this is a big deal because I am not a fan of the color pink. So, this is going to be a real big challenge for me.  However, I am in favor of saving ta-tas! Thank you for stopping by, see you next time.
